New Ministry information

ストーリー

Hello! This is Nobuko Soma from Tokyo Japan

How are you all doing?

After 13 years of continuing the “Kansai Tour,”(ministry trip to Osaka area every month for speaking engagement to churches, groups, etc.), that season will close this July, and a new chapter, “Days in Tokyo,” will begin in August. I’m writing this letter to express my gratitude and to invite you into this new journey.

(if you like my website go to https://nobukosoma.wixsite.com/dokodemo

I met Jesus when I was 18 and was called to be a missionary. With your prayers, friendship, and financial support, I have been able to serve in many ministries. As I approach my 52nd birthday, the Lord has given me a fresh vision. What once was “Nobuko’s ministry” is now expanding to become “our ministry” as the family of Christ.
Will you come alongside me to see God's Kingdom manifest in Tokyo and throughout Japan?

New Vision

Both of my elderly parents (89 years old) have now been certified as needing care, and I have become their primary caregiver. I am convinced that it is God's will for me to walk with them through the journey of receiving His love and salvation, and ultimately being welcomed into Heaven. That’s why I am ending the Kansai Tour this July.

When I prayed, “Lord, how do You want to reveal Yourself through me now?” He spoke some surprising things:

  • In the “Coming Home Revival” in Japan, prodigal sons and daughters will return to the Father’s house.

  • As 99% of people are yet unreached, I am being sent out again—as a domestic missionary.

  • Through Instagram and a local café, I will help build a community in Tokyo where people can encounter the living Jesus and connect as God’s family in a life-giving environment.

  •  I will create “doors to Jesus” that anyone can access—like an “Anywhere Door”—through people’s screens, where the Holy Spirit can flow and people can experience Christ from wherever they are.

Homeland Missionary

I’ve worked alongside many foreign missionaries in Japan, and my advantages as a domestic missionary are:

  • Fluent in Japanese, able to have deep conversations (no need for language school!)

  • Already rooted in Japan, so I don’t need financial support for daily living expenses

  • Experienced in both café ministry and social media (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram)

While I do have a home base through living with my parents, I need time and financial resources for my Instagram ministry and café work. I have explored monetization options on Instagram but will not pursue it for income for now. My purpose is not profit but providing a door to Jesus for the Japanese people. Although I may sell content, I don’t expect significant income for several years.

Since I ended my simultaneous interpretation work in 2023, and my online school was also closed by the Lord, I no longer receive income from those sources. The Kansai Tour income will also end in July. If I take on part-time work, I won’t have the time or energy for the ministries the Lord is calling me into.

Ministry Activities

① Instagram Ministry

  • For non-Christians: Address questions of life’s meaning and personal worth with truth. Offer prayers and prophetic encouragement that connect people to the work of the Holy Spirit.

  • For Christians: Encourage practical steps to grow in a healthy relationship with God and shine Jesus’ light in dark places.

My foundation is my own testimony: how I heard God's voice say, “Now is the time to become a Christian,” and how my life was transformed.
I aim to create videos that help people experience not just Bible teachings but life-changing truth, hearing God's voice, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Content ideas include prophetic interviews, faith workouts, Q&A on discerning God's voice, 30-second encouragements, testimonies, and Instagram Lives. Most importantly, I will show my face and connect personally.

② 8068cafe Ministry – Let Jesus love and empower people through me.

Though the timeline is uncertain, I have a vision to open a café in the future.  As a step toward that, I will begin volunteering at 8068cafe in Higashimurayama, Tokyo, starting in August.

This café is small and already fully staffed, but when I asked to join as an unpaid volunteer to learn, they gladly accepted. While caregiving for my parents, I plan to start with 2–3 days a week, working about 3 hours per day.

Will You Help Build “Doors to Jesus” in Tokyo?

I am seeking monthly support of ¥50,000 (approx. $320) for ministry expenses.

The volunteer work at the café will take about 50 hours/month. Based on the average café wage in Japan (¥1,000/hour), that equals ¥50,000—this is my support goal.
I

plan to send out a support-raising letter every three months and am praying that the full ¥150,000 is met each time.Through this café and Instagram, I believe the Holy Spirit will call out to prodigal sons and daughters in real-time:“Your home is here. Your life has meaning and value. Come home.”Let’s open the door together.

ENDORSEMENT

“We have known Nobuko for many years, and have done house church together for over 10 years where she has served as an elder and worship leader. She has our full support and we are proud to send her out as a trusted vessel of God. We are always encouraged hearing her testimonies and experiencing the grace of God together. Now, as a new season begins for her, we hope that the Lord will expand a network of those who desire to sow and reap together in the spiritual realm.”

Justin and Sumire Stanislawski (House Church Leaders)

-----------------------------------------------

We are writing to wholeheartedly recommend Nobuko as a domestic missionary in Japan. It has been nearly thirty years since we first met her, when we served together as colleagues in Youth With A Mission (YWAM). Over the years, our relationship has grown into one of deep mutual trust, spiritual unity, and friendship.

For the past thirteen years, every time she visits the Kansai region, she stays with our family for several nights. During those times, we not only engage in ministry together, but we also share our hearts openly, walking in mutual accountability and spiritual encouragement. She has truly become part of our spiritual family.

We have had the privilege of witnessing up close her journey of healing and transformation as she has pursued an intimate relationship with God. As she has embraced her identity as a beloved daughter of the Father, her ministry has begun to flow naturally and powerfully from that identity—bringing hope, encouragement, and healing to others.

Her life is a living testimony of God’s grace and restoration. We believe that she is uniquely equipped and called to serve as a missionary within Japan, and we are confident that her presence and ministry will bear lasting fruit.

With joy and confidence, we recommend her to you. May the Lord continue to use her mightily for His Kingdom in Japan.

Sincerely Jef & Aya Linscott Founders, Onfire Japan
